The Great Boston Mooninite Scare of 2007

On January 31, 2007, Boston police discovered a suspicious device planted under a major highway
overpass. Soon reports of additional similar devices started getting called in to the Boston PD.
The city proceeded to shut down highways and subway lines throughout the city while they investigated.

Now, at first glance, any sane person could tell that these "suspicious devices" did not pose any public
threat. The device in question consisted of a few batteries, a circuit board, and LED lights in the shape of a
Mooninite, a character from the Cartoon Network series "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."

Even though the device has no type of compartment to hold explosives,
chemicals, or biological agents, the city continued to panic. Boston bomb
squad even "detonated" one device.

Later in the day, a video surfaced on the website Zebbler.com of two
individuals planting these devices. This led to the arrest of Peter
Berdovsky and Sean Stevens in connection with the "hoax."

Reports then surfaced that this "hoax" was just a big marketing ploy, put
forth by Turner Broadcasting, Inc. However, the two men arrested are still
awaiting trial for their role in this misunderstanding.

This is a prime example of how the United States government is trying to keep us in perpetual fear in order
to take away our liberties and rights.

Not only is this a major embarrassment to the city of Boston, it is also an embarrassment to the citizens of
this country.

How can you help?

You can call or write to Massachusetts Governer Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to demand
that the charges against Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens be dropped.
